19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former coach Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on court had prompted some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a close third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
